REINSTATING CREATIVITY, INTEGRITY
AND RECREATION IN THE LIVES
OF OUR STUDENTS BY
PRESERVING THE ESSENCE OF CHILDHOOD
Students go to "work" seven hours a day. Is this time rewarding and age-appropriate? The winter is cold and dark. Would our kids benefit from a recreation center of sorts?
PLACING ACADEMICS BEFORE AGENDAS
Keep curriculum balanced.
Put academics first.
PROTECTING OUR AMERICAN HERITAGE
The validity of the founding fathers and American values are being questioned nation wide. Let’s offer classes, like cursive, the life of Washington, and manners.
WE ARE STILL HOSTING OPEN GYM
Visit us on Facebook
Open gym is for all school age children and is held in the MPR. Mr. Frisbie often holds morning basketball practice that middle and high school students are welcome to attend. MASKS ARE REQUIRED until school policy changes. You can find us on Facebook as AM KID Gym. Come play Monday - Friday 7:15-8:15. Join the Facebook group to attend so that I have your contact info and can inform you if gym is cancelled or if I am running late. Don't forget to pack an extra snack for your child. Hope to see you there!
A big thank you to all who wrote letters to the school board! It’s good to see different views and opinions. Hopefully we can come together with some good options for the kids.
JOIN THE EFFORT
Join the Denali Education Group. Look for our next meeting on the website or Facebook. Send us a message to be added to our contact list. Part of our objective is to establish a line of communication between parents, educators and the community. As issues arise we hope to be prepared to speak up and make a difference.
THE MORE YOU KNOW...
Maybe there's something you would love for students to study in greater depth - like the Declaration of Independence, or maybe a kid is struggling with taking notes and penmanship. Perhaps there is a student that just hates school. What if the Denali Education Group offered a few classes here and there to cater to students' wants and needs? Thoughts? Ideas? Join the discussion on the forum.
WHAT ABOUT A GYM?
Kids and teens thrive on unstructured play. Is it possible to schedule a daily open gym at the school? Mornings from 7:15-8:15? It could be a great incentive for students to get to school early.
Is there an existing building we could use for a recreation facility? Please visit the forum to share ideas.
A WORK IN PROGRESS
This is a draft. Any and all suggestions are welcome. I hope to discuss the details of the Denali Education Group, the website and a corresponding app at the November 14th event.
